At this past month's school board meeting, it was announced that Sandy Carriveau is the elementary school special education teacher.

Carriveau, who graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in special education in 2002, looks forward to working at Owen-Gage.

"I'm not going in there with preconceived ideas," she said. "I don't know the students or the system yet...but I am really looking forward to working with the staff."

"I'll do what I've been doing for the last few years as a teacher."

Carriveau comes to the O-G Schools from the Port Hope School District where she was the special education teacher and prior to that she spent ten years at North Huron Schools as a paraprofessional.

"The rewards from this profession are tremendous," she adds.

In her spare time Carriveau likes to garden and tend to her flowers, read, spend time with her family and take vacations.

Carriveau's family includes husband, Terry, and sons Shawn (Lisa) and Trevor (Kristy) and two grandchildren with one more due very soon.
