*Star Gazing at Sleeper State Park: June 28, 10 p.m., at the Beach House in the Day Use. "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. This one-hour program features a look at stars above our world. Bring a blanket because we will be lying on the sand to view the stars in gazing form. Children under age 14 need to be accompanied by an adult." *Scavenger Hunt at Sleeper State Park: June 29, 5 p.m. at the Camp Host Pavilion. "Let's discover Michigan nature with an active scavenger hunt where we will look but not touch the world around us. This one-hour program is meant for families or small groups. Each group must have at least one adult. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water." *Beach Beauties at Port Crescent State Park: June 29, 8 p.m. at the Beach. "Come take a stroll along Port Crescent's amazing shoreline. This 45-minute program will be packed with information about the shoreline plants, animals, and sand dunes. Bring water and comfortable shoes. Children under age 12 need to be accompanied by an adult." *Fish on. At the Port Austin State Harbor: June 30, 10 a.m. at the Port Austin Dock. "Learn some basics of fishing and try your hand at catching a fish. Poles and bait will be available, but you can bring your own, too. This one-hour catch and release program is fun for the whole family. A fishing license is required for all anglers 17 or older." *Shoreline Shenanigans at Sleeper State Park: June 30, 3 p.m. at the beach House in the Day Use. "Explore Sleeper's shoreline in this one hour beach program featuring interesting facts about shoreline ecology and an awesome activity to top it all off. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Children under age 12 need to be accompanied by an adult." All programs are free of charge. A motor vehicle permit is required for entry into state parks. Sleeper State Park is located at 6573 State Park Rd., Caseville, and Port Crescent State Park is located at 1775 Port Austin Rd., Port Austin. |
