Celebrate Independence Day with Fireworks, Parades and a Concert on the Beach

Parades

July 1 Parade: Downtown Port Hope, 2 p.m.

July 4 Parade: Port Austin, 1 p.m.-Scheduled to appear along with fire departments, huge trac tors, classic cars-Sen ator Debbie Stabenow and State Rep Terry

Brown. Parade entries can preregister with: Renee at Blue Spruce Motel, Judy at the Village Hall or with Dana at the Chamber of Commerce. Times to report (to the old Middle School) for staging are staggered this year to avoid long waits: 11 a.m.: cars, floats and/or other vehicles, 11:30 a.m. anything with animals, Noon: walkers, golf carts, politicians, veterans.

Needed:

Bands and other forms of music to be in the parade. Also looking for people to serve on parade route patrol and five "boisterous" men to control parade entries during staging process.

Willing to hire: A paid pooper-scooper in clown costume. Contact Renee Nichols at Blue Spruce Motel.
