Newsweekly Local News PUBLISHED:
Inman was arraigned on Tuesday, June 12, for six felony counts including two for assault with intent to murder, one for dangerous weapon-carrying with unlawful intent, one count for unlawfully driving away an automobile and two counts felony firearms. The offer from the prosecutor's office was for Inman to plead guilty to one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent and one count of felony firearms. The plea was open until noon on Wednesday, June 20. If Inman accepts the prosecutor's offer the remaining three charges no longer stand. "My client will waive his right to preliminary exam," said defense attorney John Bishop. Inman, shackled in handcuffs, stood beside his attorney and only spoke to waive his preliminary exam. Visiting Judge David Nicholson bound Inman over to Circuit Court on July 9, for trial. The $1million with a 10-percent cash surety bond continues. On May 31, Inman allegedly shot a person in Arbela Township and fled in the victim's vehicle. The vehicle was recovered a few days after the incident. If convicted, Inman is facing a maximum of life in prison for the murder assault charges, five-years for the dangerous weapon charge and two years in prison for the felony firearms charge. |
