This year, 234 two-man teams hit the shallows of Saginaw Bay to harvest as many rough fish (carp, garpike and dogfish) as possible. The two-day event saw 60,769 of these trash fish brought in.

A total of 1,964,591 pounds of fish have been taken over the past 23 years. Bob Easterbrook Sr., the tournaments founder and director, said, "One of our goals this year was to break the two million pound mark."

On Saturday, that goal was met. Scott and Kyle Evanko, both of Roseville, who brought in the fish to surpass two million pound mark and won the $200 prize.

This year's winners were Joe Svoboda of Byron, and Bryan Woodard, Durand, with a catch of 3,358 pounds. Second place was taken by Doug and Travis Curey of Nashville Tenn., with a harvest totaling 2,489 pounds.

Teams come from all over the United States and Canada to compete in this event.

Proceeds from the tournament help fund the Wildlife Education Foundation Youth Camp in Caseville.
