Soccer roundup:

Pirates shutout Red Hawks

Harbor Beach ended the regular season with an 8-0 win over Cass City.

The Pirates scored their first goal when keeper Rhonda Gusa scooped up a Cass City pass and kicked it 65 yards to forward Moriah Kish. Kish beat a collection of defenders and Harbor Beach was on the board.

Six minutes later, Kish swept in from the left side and sent the ball across the goal mouth to Heidi Grekowicz. Grekowicz sent the ball past the keeper for a 2-0 lead.

Things quieted down for the next eighteen minutes, until the Harbor Beach offense exploded. During that stretch Kish, Missy Peterson, Stefanie Gainor had goals for the Pirates. Near the end of the half, Grekowicz scored a deflection goal on a Gainor corner kick and 45 seconds later scored in the exact same way to take a 7-0 lead.In the second half, Peterson scored with a shot from the eighteen, which was assisted by Jenny Sorenson.

Gusa had three saves in goal for the Pirates, who finished league play in third place with a 6-4 record.
