Huron County Press Local News PUBLISHED:
At the sentencing hearing, a mother of two of the victims spoke for the first time publicly. "This is the only time I've been able to speak my mind," she said. "This is a small community and this has been hard on these girls," she added. The mother explained how she saw the videotape and expressed concern about what would have happened if her daughter had not discovered the camera. "This has affected the community tremendously," she said. Tuscola County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Reene added, "He (Brinkman) was put in the position of trust with the minor children and students and it was obviously exploited. Reene asked the court to impose the maximum sentence of nine months and to follow the recommend sentencing guidelines. "I apologize for any harm I did to the family and the victims," said Brinkman at the hearing. |
