"By extending our season, area residents and vacationers can enjoy shopping the market for their spring, summer and fall seasonal needs," Pridnia stated.

Earlier plants, such as strawberries, asparagus and some perennials should be available.

Non-food items will include home products, lawn furniture, antiques, crafts, artwork, tools, and jewelry.

Park benches, picnic tables with umbrellas, and refuse receptacleshave been added.

Pridnia estimates vendors offer goods to approximately 3,000 who attend over holiday weekends. Pridnia expects 150 vendors to be on hand on May 19.

According to Pridnia, the market also offers a coffee and snack area, horse and wagon rides and entertainment. "The market has become the place to be on Saturday mornings," he said.

The Port Austin Farmers' Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
