No, you do not have to worry about a gang of prisoners running around the streets, however; organizers say you need to make sure to get to Port Austin for a lot of fun and entertainment.

This year marks the 12th Annual Port Austin Spring Breakout and Classic Car Show.

Something new for this year will be the entertainment and "street dance" according to organizer Dave Williams.

"We have added entertainment for Friday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.," said Williams. He added, "It will be like a street dance."

Other events beginning on Saturday will be the Village wide garage sale, kids' games, and the spaghetti dinner at the United Protestant Church.

"Also, on Saturday in lieu of the craft show, they are going to open the Farmer's Market earlier," said Williams.

Everyone is invited to join in the "Cruise the Lakeshore." After the cruise will be the Port Austin famous Poker Run and car show later that evening, including the "car corral" and drawings.

Said to be a popular event during the breakout is the entertainment on Saturday evening. Everyone is invited to come, dance and listen to Jack Scott sing the hits from the 50s and 60s during the "Street Fest" from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Sunday, the events continue: theVillage wide garage sale, a pancake breakfast at the U & I Club, an art show at Gallop Park and the car show in the afternoon.

This year on Sunday afternoon there will also be a Jack Scott autograph session.

A panel of judges will determine the top 25 award winners for the car show. Goodie bags and dash plaques will be given to the first 150 registered vehicle entrants.

Saturday evening DJ Jammin' Jerry spins 50's and 60's music.

The Break Out Event button can be purchased prior to the weekend for $1 or during the weekend for $2.

"We do really well on the button sales, however; last year the rain did a number on us," explained Williams. He added, "The main day is Sunday for the button sales."

All proceeds from the weekend events will be donated to the Port Austin Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.
