Hatchets win Laker Invitational golf tournament



Bad Axe's Eric Glaza shot 38, while Cam and Cody Streussnig added rounds of 41 to help lead the Hatchets to the top finish at Friday's Laker Invitational, which was held at Scenic Golf and Country Club. Ryan Burkhard also contributed a 43 for Bad Axe, who beat out Cass City 163-172 for top honors.

The Lakers finished in third place with a score of 179, which coach Charlie Henry called the team's "best effort of the year."

He added, "Hopefully we've turned it around and are heading in the right direction for the district tournament, which will be held at Scenic in two weeks."

For EPBP, Cody Collings shot 43, Jacob Bouck and Brett Foltz 45, and Andy Vaerten 46.

USA finished fifth overall with a combined round of 189. Aaron Nicholas led the Patriots with a 41, while Taylor Cramer shot 47, Josh Eisengruber 50 and Shane McGregor 51.

Ubly rounded out the six team field (BCAS also competed and finished fourth with a 182) with 196. The Bearcats were led by a 45 from Jeremy Ruthko, while Torrie Peplinski and Kevin Messing each shot 50. Eric Gentner finished with a 51 for Ubly.
