Warrior girls finish second at NH Invite



The Kingston girls used a first place finish in the 1,600 relay to edge out the North Huron girls 98-86 at last week's North Huron Invitational. Port Hope finished close behind in third (85), while EPBP was fourth (67) and Caseville eighth (22).

For the Lady Warriors, first place finishes included Megan Heffner in the 300 hurdles (49.11), high jump (4-10) and the 400 relay (56.35) along with Caitlin Homrich, Heather Dobson and Stephanie Goretski. Homrich also added a first in the 100 hurdles (17.48) and second in the 200 (27.71) and long jump (14-9.5), while Emily Wiley was first in the pole vault (7-0) and Heffner second in the 100 (13.55).

The Lady Bluestars finishes first in the 3,200 relay (12:00.59) and got second place finishes from Heather Zick in the 400 (1:03.25), Terra Pleiness in the 300 hurdles (57.36), Alyson Koglin in the discus (96-5), Kim Koglin in the shot put (30-11) and the 1,600 relay team (5:01.29).

The Lakers got place finishes from Chelsea Dubey in the 100 (13.17), 200 (27.04), 400 (1:02.88) and long jump (15-8), while Rebecca Roundtree was first in the 1,600 (6:21.27) and 3,200 (13:40.26).

For the Eagles, their top finisher was Emily Kurschner who was first in the 800 (2:40.48).

On the boys' side, the Laker boys finished fourth (51.50) behind first place Dryden (156), while North Huron was fifth (33), Port Hope tied for sixth (13) and Caseville eighth (8).

The Lakers were led by a second place finish from Kyle Voelker in the 400 (56.07), while third place finishers were Josh Schember in the discus (114-7) and shot put (38-6.5), Chris Hoffman in the 1,600 (5:26.64), David Snider in the 300 hurdles (48.67) and the 400 relay team of Snider, Vince Reynolds, Voelker and Brett Maurer (48.72).

For North Huron, their top finisher was Ed Wisneski who finished first in the pole vault (11-0), while Ryan Schulte was third in the long jump (16-7) and Adam Heldt tied for the third in the high jump (5-2) for Port Hope. Caseville's top finish was a fourth place effort in the 3,200 relay (12:23.84).
