Softball roundup: Port Hope splits

The Bluestars dropped the opener to the Vikings, as Kayla Gust allowed nine runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks, while striking out seven.
In game two, Gust earned the win as she allowed six runs, but struck out six. Offensively, Kim Koglin had a double and triple, while Gust and Allyson Koglin also doubled. Erika Gisel chipped in three singles and Brittany Schave added a hit.

In game one, Ashley Craig earned the win as she allowed three runs and struck out four for Bad Axe. Jodi Waun had a key late for the Hatchets driving in two runs, as Bad Axe scored five in the final two innings to pull out the victory. Nikki Braun and Taylor Braun had two hits each for the Hatchets, while Lindsay Ellicott had two hits and two RBIs for the Lakers.
In game two, Erica King, who had 14 strike outs on the day, picked up the win for EPBP. Overall for Lakers, Ellicott had four hits on the day and Brianna Fritz three, while Whitney Damrow and King had two hits each. Nikki Braun and Taylor Braun had three total hits for Bad Axe.

In the opener, Alyssa Mrozek went 2-for-4 to lead the Eagle's offense.
In game two, Rebecca Janke picked up the win with a nine strikeout effort. At the plate, Meaghan Fortsch was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, while Mrozek was 1-for-1 with two walks and two stolen bases.

The Bulldogs won the opener as Mariah Francis picked up the win in relief of Lauren Mandrich. At the plate, April Nowaczyk and Amanda Faist each had two hits and drove in two runs each.
In the nightcap, Owen-Gage scored four runs in the sixth to help secure the win. Katie Rhodes hit a key three run triple to lead the Bulldogs, while Francis once again picked up the win in relief.
Owen-Gage is 8-2 in league play and 11-7 overall.

Beth Weber struck out nine in the opener to pick up the win for the Bearcats. At the plate, Camay Messing tripled, Weber doubled and Gwen Pionk singled.
In the nightcap, Weber picked up another win on the mound, while Danielle Mazure sparked the offense with a home run and a single. Also at the plate, Weber, Jolysea
