Koehler seeks re-election

Huron County Clerk Peggy A. Koehler
Huron County Clerk Peggy A. Koehler has announced her intentions to seek a third term as Clerk of Huron County.

Koehler was appointed to the Clerk position in 1997 and ran successfully in 1998, 2000, and 2004. Prior to becoming Clerk, she was employed with the County for 17 years as the deputy clerk/judicial secretary for Circuit Judge M. Richard Knoblock.

"I have been employed by the County of Huron since January of 1981. I have strived to make a positive impact on Huron County government during those years. My first obligation has always been to the citizens of this County, whether it is prompt and efficient service to customers offered by this office, insuring the security and fairness of elections, or answering questions and providing information.

Koehler sees the next four years as continuing change for her office. Within the next several months, customers will be able to use charge/debit cards to pay for services. The election process is constantly changing and the Bureau of Elections plan is for laptops in all precincts to process voters and electronic transmittal of vote totals to the Bureau of Elections. Since 2006, the Clerk's office is now responsible for programming and designing the election ballets.

Koehler would also like to see an update to the vital records system in her office, which is still being entered and filed manually; an imaging system would update and modernize the Clerk's office into the 21st century.

She currently lives in Pigeon with her husband, Richard. Their son, Brian, lives in Mt. Pleasant.
