Yaroch sentencing hearing starts, but will be continued

BAY CITY - Earlier this month, Port Austin resident Kenneth E. Yaroch, a former loan officer for Signature Bank, was in Bay City's U.S. District Court for his sentencing for 18 counts of bank fraud. Yaroch was indicted on those 18 counts in December.

"We didn't even come close to completing the sentencing," said U.S. Assistant U.S. Attorney James A. Brunson. "I had nine witnesses ready to testify and we only spoke to one on the stand."

Brunson added Judge Thomas A. Ludington plans to make an interim opinion in the next two to three weeks and establish another court date.

"We have no conclusion to this matter," added Brunson.

On May 29, Yaroch was arrested in Bad Axe for the charges stemming from 2004 and 2005. The U.S. Department of Justice court papers stated "Yaroch committed bank fraud in connection with his employment at Signature Bank in Bad Axe."
