Harbor Beach Times Sports PUBLISHED:
The Eagles got behind early against the Cougars as they trailed 16-11 after the first and 22-11 at the half. Heading into the fourth, Caseville was behind 31-19, but outscored BCAS 18-10 to make a game of it. Offensively, the Eagles were led by 15 from Meghan Fortsch and 11 from Bethany Grates. Free throw shooting may have played a factor in the game as both teams made 15, but Caseville had five more opportunities at the charity stripe than the Cougars and couldn't cash them in. NORTH HURON 45, OWEN-GAGE 44 The Warrior's Jodie Pettit hit a buzzer beater to give North Huron the win in this hard-fought contest. Pettit missed her first shot with less than six seconds to go, but got the rebound and put it back in for the game-winning bucket. On the previous play, the Bulldog's Amanda Faist scored with about 10 clicks remaining to give her team the 44-43 advantage. Offensively, the Warriors were led by 17 from Megan Heffner, while Pettit added 15. For Owen-Gage, Faist had a game-high 19 points, while April Nowaczyk added 10. FINALS BCAS 58, NORTH HURON 50 The Warriors trailed by 20 after the first (27-7), but used an 18-7 run in the second to cut the deficit to nine (34-25) by halftime. In the second half, North Huron played toe-to-toe with BCAS, but could not significantly cut into the lead to make more a game of it. For the Warriors, Sara Clancy led the offense with 14, while Jodie Pettit and Jessica Ignash added 11 points apiece. |
