About Us: Huron County Publications are made up of the Newsweekly (covers the western thumb area), Harbor Beach Times (covers the eastern thumb area), and the Huron County Press (covers the central thumb area). This combination of weeklies covers all of Huron County in Michigan's Thumb.
Harbor Beach Times (Est. in 1880) Over 126 years ago the first Harbor Beach Times rolled off the press and into the hands of folks in eastern Huron County eager for the news. Our paper linked them together with their neighbors, their communities and the outside world. Today Times readers, which now include those in northern Sanilac county, have a number of ways to obtain national and international stories of the day, they look to us for the hometown, everyday-life kind of news. We are their reliable source for local community, government, school/sports, business and entertainment news. When they want to find out what’s going on in their town, their neighborhood, their children’s school, at the library or the latest government decision affecting them, they reach for their Harbor Beach Times. Families count on the Times to spread the word on important news like: which team won, who’s on the honor roll, and when’s the next club meeting. Every week we share with them both happy and sad times-- who’s had a baby, getting married, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, coming in or out of the military, or just passed away. It’s the Wednesday Harbor Beach Times that lets people know what’s on special at the local grocery, what’s playing at the movies or what festival is next weekend. And, when it comes to news, we have an advantage. Because we are a weekly paper our staff is able to provide more detail to the news, which our readers say they appreciate. We’re known for telling the whole story. That’s important. People tell us they read the Times cover to cover and keep it handy throughout the week. That’s something our advertisers like—it maximizes their investment. The Harbor Beach Times is one of four Huron County publications in the Lapeer Group of daily and weekly publications owned since 2004 by Journal Register Company of Yardley, PA. If you’d like to be a part of the Times family either as a subscriber or advertiser, go to that link on this page and you’ll find how to do just that. Hurry…we’ve got so much to tell you.
The Huron County Press (Est. in 2002) Now in its fifth year of publication serving central Huron County, the weekly Huron County Press is the paper our readers trust to be their reliable source for local community, government, school/sports, business and entertainment news. When they want to find out what’s going on in their town, their neighborhood, their children’s school, their library or what effect the new local ordinance will have on them, they reach for their County Press. We give our readers the so important everyday-life kind of news.
